Do I need Personal Development?

Do I need Personal Development?

Personal development encompasses a wide range of topics ranging from your career to your relationships and home life. It also provides invaluable tips designed to help you focus on ways to develop yourself in areas key to your satisfaction and happiness. Whether you are interested in developing your work skills or communication skills, try these suggestions to focus on your own growth.

Do something everyday that gives you pleasure. You can get caught up in your day-to-day responsibilities and go days without doing something that you truly enjoy. Start now, by making a list of the things that you really like to do and commit to finding time in doing them. You will be much better able to handle the rest of your life, if you know that you will also be enjoying yourself, part of the time.

It’s never too early to learn personal development. Children need to be told and shown that they are capable of doing anything they set their mind to. If this is ingrained in them from the time they are young, they will develop a solid sense of positive self esteem that can stay with them throughout their life.

Work on the skills that you already possess. Determine what you do well and carefully hone that skill. Fight the tendency to pursue skills you don’t already possess as this will decrease your focus. Working to better those skills can greatly increase your personal development satisfaction.

Having integrity and a clear conscience will keep your self-esteem up and self-esteem is pivotal to personal development! Do not cut corners, make excuses or give yourself other reasons to feel like you are not giving life your best effort. All of those little things will add up to a weight that will burden you with guilt and stop your success dead in its tracks, not to mention keeping you from getting a good night sleep.

Do not let other people pressure you into doing something. At work or in your personal life, you will be faced with situations where you have to act and make choices based on someone else’s values and interests. Do not let others pressure you into following their own values. Instead, present your own point of view.

When considering developing yourself personally be sure it is because you want to not only because someone else told you to. Part of personal development is being true to yourself and what you expect from yourself. If you are doing it for someone else you are doing it from a negative perspective and are less likely to succeed in achieving your goals.

Realize that you are a small fish in a big sea. There are so many things in this world that you still need to learn and understand. Acknowledging that there are people who know more than you, is one way to grow as a person and begin a journey toward learning new skills and achieving new accomplishments.

In order to develop yourself in the best way, you must have insights with your understanding. Insight is the confidence that you have for the future. You can get insight by making sure that what you practice is consistent so that it becomes an essential part of your life for the present and future.

For some people, the key to improving personal development is maintaining healthy relationships. By being in an abusive or unhealthy relationship, the other person is going to bring you down and make you feel like you are not good enough. Always be with a person who loves you unconditionally.

As stated earlier, personal development covers such a wide range of information it can be difficult to focus on one item at a time. So what you need to do, is to develop yourself with books or audio programs that can help to keep learning about yourself and apply them to your life.
Some of the people I really enjoy are Chalene Johnson another Car Smart series. This is a series of 12 DVD’s that can help get yourself organized and life in order. Brain Tracy who also is one of Chalene’s mentors and an excellent speaker about getting your life in order business wise and personally, and a very entertaining speaker Zig Ziglar. With my drive to work being 1-1/2 hrs each way, which I only do once a week, I use my drive time as “drive university“. Why just listen to music when I can better myself  by listening to these speakers that have proven methods of helping themselves and others.

Hopefully some of these suggestions in this article will help you start your own personal development journey, and you be able to see what kind of difference you can make in your own life.
Feel free to leave a comment about what you do to improve yourself.
Remember we never stop learning.

I totally believe that personal development is important in my life. Lately I’ve been following Dani Johnson, Sandi Krakowski and am about to start a 90 course with Craig Holiday. There have been times when my head is so full of their teachings that I feel I can’t act on it but I find the way.
