TurboFire Week 2 & 3 Review

By admin On July 22, 2010 No Comments

It’s coming to the end of week 3 of TurboFire and though it’s been a trying couple of weeks at times, I’ve managed to get the workouts in.
Week 2 and 3 are called HIIT-1 weeks, week 2 started off with:
Fire 45, HIIT 20, Rest, HIIT 15 and Sculpt 30, Fire 55 EZ, Core 20 and Stretch 40 then Fire 45.
Week 3 is as follows:
Fire 45 EZ, HIIT 25, Rest, HIIT 15, Fire 45 EZ, Core 20, and Fire 55 EZ

The Fire 45 classes have “fire drills” in them and the Fire 45 EZ do not which is the big difference between the 2 workouts. The Core 20 reminds me of the TurboJam Ab workout a little as some of the exercises are the same. The Sculpt class includes use of the bands, and using them in different ways to get a good workout though in this case not a cardio type workout like the others are.

I really do like having the Turbo Tracker Journal which was included with the deluxe kit. With the small size it does make it easier to carry around and get in keep a log of food, and water in take along with having lots of info in it to help keep you on track.

I’ve been of course drinking my Shakeology daily and continuing to bring some protein bars with me on the road.

I’ve actually been noticing that I may actually not be eating enough, and also been very hungry at times. I found eating some additional protein at times did help the tiredness so I didn’t feel as tired through out the day.

I’m feeling good and hope this will help me break my plateau and start the weight loss again.

We’ll see how things go over the next few weeks

TurboFire Week 1 review

By admin On July 14, 2010 No Comments

Week 1 or Turbo-Fire is now in the books.
Week 1 was considered the “Intro” week to TurboFire and week 2 now will be considered “HIIT-1″.

Week 1 had 3 “Fire 30″ workouts a “HIIT 15″ , “CORE 20″ class, “FIRE 55 EZ” and “STRETCH 40″ which followed the Core class.
There is a “Stretch 10″ after each of the workouts, with the exception of doing the “Stretch 40″ after “Core”. The stretch class is basically 40 minutes of Yoga.
The program has you workout 2 days, rest then workout again for the next 4 to complete the week.

The things I really like about this program is there is a modifier in each of the workouts and you can still do high intensity without the jumping and still get the a great sweat.
Also the program on the whole is laid out very well, in that I mean the nutrition program including Shakeology incorporated in it, and the way the moves coincide with the music and a wide variety of workouts so you’re not doing the same workout over and over again.
Also Chalene does a great job in keeping you moving and motivated throughout the workout.
In the deluxe kit it also comes with a “turbo-tracker” which is basically a food journal, but also has extras as in a calorie guide, a daily tip and good info on food.

The one that I’m not too crazy about is the “stretch 10″ after just about every workout, I feel it should just be included in the workout instead of having to start another section on the DVD.

So overall I’ve been happy with the workout and will see where this takes me.

Turbo-Fire, getting ready to go

By admin On July 1, 2010 1 Comment

So with Chalean Extreme now complete, the next workout to do is Beachbodys newest Turbo Fire.
This workout is Chalene Johnson’s newest cardio conditioning workout with the emphasis on HIIT High Intensity Interval Training.
This is not a new concept, but Chalene has done an excellent job in putting together an awesome set of workouts to keep you motivated and coming back.

Though some of the workouts say “EZ” on them they are far from that and also some have a “new to class” feature on them which goes through the “routine” slowly at first then the speed is picked up, this way you can focus on learning the moves and won’t feel so awkward when just getting into the workout.

If you do one of the HITT only workouts, you basically just do “fire drills” which is giving your all for 45-60 seconds then resting for a moment and doing it again. If you do one of the 45 or 55 EZ workouts, there are still fire drills in them, however it is more like a Turbo Jam class in that you do some cardio then go into doing the fire drills or as in Turbo Jam, the “turbos”.

There also is some resistance workouts with some bands and core workouts along with a 10 min stretch on each of the DVDs, and the deluxe kit also includes a hybrid workout calendar with Chalean Extreme and includes Burn CIrcuit 1 from Chalean Extreme.

The workout calendar, incorporating the hybrid and deluxe set of workouts can take you through just about a year to complete.
The nutritional plan also includes Shakeology, which all new Beachbody workouts are incorporating now along wit a 5 day Inferno Plan as a jump start.

This is an awesome workout and is for men and woman and a definite great investment for your fitness library.
