Yoga Booty Ballet

Well with much hesitation I went ahead and pushed play to Yoga Booty Ballet and was quite surprised.  I figured I’d watch a little bit of this workout, get bored and turn it off.  Well I ended up watching all of the workouts and today did the meditation portion of it after another workout I did.

The first DVD has 3 sections to it.  Quoting from the DVD..

Beginner: Quickstart introduces the moves and methods fundamental to the program .. and is 14 min long and followed up by a meditation portion.

What I liked about this beginning section was Gillian and Teigh showed you how to do the moves, and also encouraged you to watch before participating so you can understand the moves and do them correctly. The next portion is a 45 min routine of Total Toning Basics, which they do a set and then repeat them two additional times using the basics they went over in the first part, and put them together with some music.

The third portion is a 60 min routine of Advanced Abs & Booty, again with some music and some moves previously used so there are no surprises.  As they work with some of the abs moves they also incorporate using a ball that’s included with the purchase of the workout.

All the workouts finish with Yoga and some calming stretching and meditation.

Included also are two additional workouts, one called Yoga Booty Ballet HIP HOP ABS, which is the ladies with a group of folks and 2 guys also thrown in there doing a 37 min workout which they show you some moves and then just continue to add on so you’re repeating the moves which makes it easy to follow along through the workout, and towards the end of the workout the is also some ab work which total time of the DVD is 49 min.

The other included workout is Yoga Booty Ballet Cardio Cabaret, another live taping of the workout which once again they use a few moves, add on and repeat them so can learn the moves from the repetition.

Overall I was surprisingly impressed with these workouts since from my previous exposure to Yoga didn’t really seem like it would be much fun or keep me interested, but watching these ladies showing these moves and the genuine passion they have for these workouts it kept me interested and I would definitly do the meditation portion again and may even do one of the workouts to keep the variety of the workouts going.

This of course isn’t a workout that I’d feel comfortable recommending to a guy, though some may actually enjoy it, but for a woman wanting something different and enjoys dance like workouts should enjoy this workout.

As with all other Beachbody workouts a nutrition program and quickstart guide that comes with the program.  There are also additional workouts available here as well.

Slim in 6

Continuing my reviews of the Beachbody workouts, this next one is of Slim in 6, “The 6-week program for rapid weight loss & healthy body slimming”.
To be honest I’ve never heard of Debbie Siebers‘, but just starting seeing some of her commercials for this product.
As with the other workouts I started with the first one to see what’s it’s all about and how it would be for someone just starting out working out or getting back into it.
the pace on the “Start it Up!” workout is pretty slow, though if someone has not worked out and needs to slowly get back into it this may be a good starting workout. The people helping her out in the back round both have done Slim in 6 and are a product of the product.

The moves are pretty easy to do though I wish she would give you more of a heads up as to her next move. I doesn’t take long to catch up to her and she does end up repeating the moves as the workout goes on but she kind of explains as she goes instead of telling you before the move how to do it. There are a large amount of squat type moves in her workout and you will feel it in your thighs if you’re doing the moves correctly. Cardio wise my heart rate did get up, largely from arm movements, and for a beginner workout is was pretty good.
The cooldown stretch wasn’t bad and as what seems to be common with all Beachbody workouts some Yoga, so if you’re not familiar with names of poses, like me, you may need to pay a little more attention to watching what they’re doing.

Afterwards I decided to watch the “Ramp It Up!” workout to see if it was different from the first workout and she does pick up the pace a bit, and seem to repeat the same moves that are in the “Start It Up” workout so there aren’t a large amount of difficulties knowing what to expect with the moves.
She has two other folks working out with her that also have been through the program different from the first workout and as with other Beach Body workouts also includes a nutrition program with workout schedule, workout chart to mark off your days as you workout and a 6 day journal, I’m guessing for the 6 day express diet plan.

Each person looks for something unique in their workout to keep them interested and coming back.
This workout, like I mentioned starts off slow and I would recommend it to someone who hasn’t worked out in awhile and may have some coordination problems doing moves that some of the other workouts have. You will get a good workout with this, but I wish she talked about some of the moves before doing them so the form can be right from the beginning instead of trying to correct them while you’re learning them.
Will I do this workout again? I’d say yes, I’d give a try doing what of the others, though don’t know if I’d be inclined to stay with it for the entire 6 weeks. If you’re good with self motivation you should have no problems with staying with the program.

Turbo-Jam .. Punch, Kick & Jam

Well continuing with my workouts and reviews of the Beach Body workouts, I chose to try the “Bonus” workout that comes with Turbo Jam, Punch, Kick & Jam.
This gets to be a high energy workout that goes for just under an hour. It starts off with a familiar workout that Chalean uses and when the workout begins it again uses her familiar moves, though she does vary them around to keep things moving. The thing I like about the way she does things is that she reminds you of form and how to get the most out of the moves she uses along with doing them correctly to lessen the strain on your body.
the other good thing is the people working out seem to enjoy the being there, unlike some other workouts the “cast” looks like they rather be somewhere else.
Though this is kinda a long workout you’re not doing high energy stuff for the whole time. The last 15 min. or so she does a cool down but uses Capoeira, a Brazilian style of martial arts, to help the body cool down and also continue to work the core and abs, this was actually one of the parts of the workout I enjoyed the most since I’ve been involved in martial arts for many years.

If you may be considering the new Beachbody workout Revabs and am not sure exactly what Capoeira is, you may want to take a look at this just to give you an idea of what you may expect in the “easy” phase of the Revabs workout.
