P90X2 Phase 2 Review

Well though a little late doing this I did complete Phase 2 of P90X2.

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to do in consistently like I wanted to, due to some unavoidable issues, but did find it challenging  but enjoyable.

The exercises in Phase 2 of P90X2 the following workouts:

Day 1: Chest + Back + and Balance & X2 Ab Ripper
Day 2: Plyocide
Day 3: Rest or X2 Recovery + Mobility
Day 4: X2 Shoulders + Arms & X2 Ab Ripper
Day 5: X2 Yoga
Day 6: Base + Back & Ab Ripper
Day 7: Rest or X2 Recovery + Mobility

If you purchased the “P90X2 Deluxe” kit there were some additional workouts that can be substituted in the rotation, along with additional equipment.

V-Sculpt & Ab Ripper switch in to Day 1
X2 Chest + Shoulders + Tris & Ab Ripper switch in to Day 4

I did try some of the additional workouts, and it was a nice change, but even if I wouldn’t have had the extra workouts the workouts were good and you would not get bored with them.

I spent 4 weeks in this phase and did feel comfortable enough to move onto Phase 3 after the 4 weeks.  Some of the exercises were still a challenge but there was good progress through the phase and  in order to avoid getting in a rut or a plateau effect I decided to move on.

I did occasionally sub another workout for the Plyocide which was also a intense cardio workout and also a shorter Yoga workout.  The Yoga in P90X2 is a shorter version then what’s in P90X but I would still a different one occasionally.

I also had to use resistance bands since I don’t have the pull-up bar, so probably lost out a little bit by not having that but did get a good workout with the bands.

These exercises had some challenging times as there was some balance moves involved using the medicine balls and also using the stability ball in different configurations.

So far I’m still enjoying P90X2 and look forward to Phase 3.

P90X2 Phase 1 Complete

Well I’ve completed phase 1 of P90X2.
Though struggling through some of the exercises and not “mastering” all of them it has been 6 weeks and don’t want to get on a plateau so it’s time to move on. Tony mentions that you should do a minimum of 3 weeks but no more then 6, so this program is kind of “flexible” in that respect.

I have had improvement on quite a few moves and have lost some weight, but mostly noticed loss of inches and my pants do feel looser, shirt’s looser and face a bit thinner.

While working through Phase 1 Beachbody came out with another product, “Energy and Endurance Formula” or “E&E” Formula. This is a product to give you some additional energy when you drink it 15-30 minutes before working out and you don’t feel “wired” like some other energy drinks make you feel. Click here to see the video about it.

The moves are challenging, and involve a bit more “balance” since you do work with medicine balls and a Pilates type balance ball, but not impossible, just frustrating at times. (more…)
