Turbo Jam Cardio Party review…

By admin On November 9, 2009 No Comments

Today I felt like I needed a cardio workout, and elected to give Turbo Jam Cardio Party a try.
This workout runs about 50 min. and is a high energy workout using the moves that are in other workouts in the Turbo Jam series so, they will look familiar to those that have previously done Turbo Jam before.
Starting off with pretty much her typical warm-up, it then gets into a high energy “good time” workout, by that I mean everyone working out with her is having a good time and not just smiling for the camera but getting into the workout and enjoying it which of course makes a big difference when exercising if no one looks like it’s any fun.
The combinations she uses, she repeats on both sides of the body so you know what to expect while progressing through the workout, and with the “relaxed” atmosphere makes the time go by rather quickly.
The cool down she incorporates Capoeira, as she also did in the Punch Kick Jam bonus workout, as a cool down which I enjoyed because instead of doing the usual stepping from side to side as other workouts may use or just stretching, it still had you moving and cooling down while still moving but in your typical movements.

As with Chalenes other Turbo Jam workouts, I recommend this one, as she has a great personality and brings across that she really wants you to enjoy your workout and getting healthy.

Turbo-Jam .. Punch, Kick & Jam

By admin On October 30, 2009 No Comments

Well continuing with my workouts and reviews of the Beach Body workouts, I chose to try the “Bonus” workout that comes with Turbo Jam, Punch, Kick & Jam.
This gets to be a high energy workout that goes for just under an hour. It starts off with a familiar workout that Chalean uses and when the workout begins it again uses her familiar moves, though she does vary them around to keep things moving. The thing I like about the way she does things is that she reminds you of form and how to get the most out of the moves she uses along with doing them correctly to lessen the strain on your body.
the other good thing is the people working out seem to enjoy the being there, unlike some other workouts the “cast” looks like they rather be somewhere else.
Though this is kinda a long workout you’re not doing high energy stuff for the whole time. The last 15 min. or so she does a cool down but uses Capoeira, a Brazilian style of martial arts, to help the body cool down and also continue to work the core and abs, this was actually one of the parts of the workout I enjoyed the most since I’ve been involved in martial arts for many years.

If you may be considering the new Beachbody workout Revabs and am not sure exactly what Capoeira is, you may want to take a look at this just to give you an idea of what you may expect in the “easy” phase of the Revabs workout.

Till next time

Beginning the BEACHBODY Journey

By admin On October 5, 2009 2 Comments

Hello all and welcome to my weight loss journey.  I’ve seemed to have finally got on track with my eating and have as of today have lost 25 lbs, and still need to keep the numbers decreasing.

I’ve decided to vary my workouts and besides the workouts I currently do, I’ve decided to start working with the BEACHBODY workouts to keep me going with my weight loss, and become a Beachbody coach to keep myself accountable to continue eating correctly to get healthy and fit.

There are a wide variety of workouts to choose from depending on your personal preference but each strive for the same goal. They all help you achieve you fitness goals but in different ways.

Most of the new ones tend to want you to do all sorts of measurements and tests before you start the program which for me is a bit cumbersome. Although I understand the reasoning behind the pretests, I chose to start with the Turbo-Jam workout because all of that is not required.   I’ve had previous experience with these type workouts from being involved in martial arts for many years so the moves aren’t that “foreign” to me.

I just finished my first workout today and the program started with showing the moves that will be in the workout. It helps to have an idea of what to expect and how to do them correctly.  The workout itself gives you a good sweat and heart rate.  The moves for me were not difficult-they just took a little while to learn.

If you like cardio workouts this may be a workout to consider adding to your library.

Until the next workout review…

UPDATE… Since this was first written I’ve completed REVABS this is a great workout especially for when I was on the road, so check out my write-ups.

I’ve also advanced to the level of Emerald Coach

As I continue my “on the road” workout journey, my next conquest now is Chalean Extreme, make sure you come back to see how the workouts are going.
